The „glassy“ production of the new Desert modules to start soon

Development completed: Jurawatt presents the new generation of high temperature resistant Glass/Glass modules

Jurawatt stellt die neue Generation der hochtemperaturbeständigen Glas/Glas-Module vor.

Neumarkt, Oberpfalz – Photovoltaics of the finest quality. As reasonably priced, as productive and durable, and as versatile as never before. They can be amortized for a period extending to more than 40 years. Fit for desert deployment, hybrid compatible, i.e. they can also be used for generating power and heat … all this may sound like „wishful thinking“. As a matter of fact, precisely that is going to be available soon in the market: with the Glass/Glass Desert module from Jurawatt.

The most recent innovation by the solar smithy has on the front side as well as on the rear side a glass layer that is not even two millimetres thick. That makes it more resistant and durable than „conventional“ modules which have a foil on the rear side. In times of storms, heavy snowfall or even during assembly, the modules exposed to enormous forces that can cause microscopic cracks. In Glass/Glass modules, however, this liability does not exist, because the cells are located in the so-called „neutral intermediate ply“.

What makes the „Desert Modules 2.0“ from Jurawatt unique?

The high temperature modules from Jurawatt are unique due to their superb resistance to heat in general, but they continue to perform even at temperatures as high as 125 °C. For short durations they can withstand temperature peaks up to 145 °C; they are, thus, suitable even for deployment in desert regions. Moreover, they are absolutely free from PID and 100% recyclable. In the new Glass-Glass design, they can be fitted with or without a frame. As a result of using 2 glass layers of 1.8 mm thickness, the Glass/Glass modules from Jurawatt are even lighter than the EVA standard modules. On the rear side, thermal collectors can be integrated, by which warm water can be produced directly, or a ground heat exchanger can also be integrated.

That transforms the new modules into genuine hybrid modules which will be of particular interest also to new building constructions.
