Innovative fluidised-bed gasifier for generating synthesis gases

Zittau/Düsseldorf/Pfaffenhofen. – Within the framework of its research activities at Graz Technical University agnion energy GmbH, under the management of Dr. Thomas Kienberger, has developed a laboratory gasifier for the production of synthesis gases from solid biomass. The TÜV certified laboratory gasifier is now being produced as a small-scale series, which means that agnion energy is offering the research institutes of other universities and companies the opportunity to apply this mature technology for the purpose of driving forward their research into the gasification of solid fuels on the basis of a common standard.

The laboratory gasifier is a mobile fluidised-bed gasifier with a fuel input of 0.5 to 5 KW. The plant produces a particle-free synthesis gas volume flow of approximately 1 standard cubic metre (Nm3/h). The gasifier has been approved for continuous operation without personnel and is fitted with a warning system that identifies possible malfunctions. It has a tried-and-tested industrial control system, while remote maintenance is also possible via VNC access. As a result the gasifier is ideally suited to long-term experiments on a laboratory scale.

The fuel is automatically fed into the reactor by means of a screw feed. The plant is fitted with measuring equipment which enables the complete monitoring and recording of all relevant data such as temperatures, differential pressures and material flows. Operation of more than 7,500 hours per year has been demonstrated.

agnion energy is a leading supplier in the field of generating power and heat from solid biomass. Its basic „Heatpipe Reformer“ (HPR) technology was developed 10 years ago at Munich Technical University and is comprehensively protected by more than 30 patents.

agnion energy Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the ENTRADE Group.
