Inauguration of the Solar Roofs Project at the German International School Abu Dhabi, 13.12.2011

„Hands-on-science“ is now possible for the students at the German International School in Abu Dhabi (GISAD). This is provided by a solar plant installation and the empuron IT package for analysing the plant operation. The idea is to spread renewable energy knowledge and understanding by providing it to students.

The Solar Roofs Programme gives German and Emirati students the opportunity to gain firsthand experience from the photovoltaic power plant which has been installed on the roof of their school, the German International School in Abu Dhabi. The solar project is embedded in a comprehensive package of monitoring, reporting and testing software as well as a comprehensive documentation and visualization of activities. The visit of the photovoltaic installation can be integrated into the curriculum to enable students to experience „hands-on-science“.

The inauguration took place on the 13th of December 2011 at the auditorium of the German International School in Abu Dhabi (GISAD).

The installation of solar panels is part of the worldwide initiative „dena Solar Roofs Programme“ coordinated by the German Energy Agency – Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena)- and supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology within the initiative „renewables – Made in Germany“.

The power plant was technically implemented by empuron, in cooperation with baer solar, activ solar, ZAE-Bayern and SOLARWATT and represents the second Solar Roofs Project in the UAE.
