Klimaenergy 2013 trade fair: GruenEnergy and ENTRADE AG focus on energy generated from wood

Bolzano. – In Italy the proportion of renewable energies in the production of heat and electricity is being driven forward, and the target is to break through the 17% mark by 2020. In line with this aim GruenEnergy from Bolzano and Germany’s ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG will be presenting cost efficiency studies for wind farms and innovative processes for generating power, heating and cooling from regenerative biomass at the Klimaenergy 2013 trade fair (Stand D23/22, Sector CD). The fair is taking place in Bolzano from 19 to 21 September 2013.

As a renewable resource wood contributes to the energy turnaround

South Tyrol is Italy’s model region when it comes to energy efficiency and sustainable energy generation. In addition it offers ideal conditions for increasingly covering its energy requirements from the exploitation of waste wood, thus extending the spectrum of the renewable energy sources which are already being used. After all, more than 40% of the area of South Tyrol is covered by forest, only part of which can be utilised for economic purposes and where new growth is faster than the pace at which wood can be removed.

How solid biomass can be used efficiently for the generation of electricity will be demonstrated by the two companies on the basis of wood-fired power plants in the small output range of between 30 and 45 kW, and large-scale facilities with an output of up to 400 kW.

20 September 2013: „Wood gasification day“

On Friday, 20 September, the congress accompanying the trade fair will be focusing on this innovative technology under the title of „Wood gasification: opportunities and risks“. Leading engineers and scientists will be providing an overview of the utilisation of wood to generate energy across the spectrum of relevant manufacturers. They will present the latest technology and innovative concepts for power generation, together with the supply of heating and cooling energy from wood chips.
